Development Engineer - Supplier Capability Enhancement
A purpose driven role for you
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
1. Supplier Rehabilitation: Diagnose, rehabilitate, and upgrade underperforming suppliers struggling with quality, capacity, and operational delivery.
2. Process Audits & Controls: Conduct deep-dive process audits, provide floor-side technical handholding, and re-establish critical process controls.
3. Defect Reduction: Resolve chronic production issues and systematically lower supplier PPM metrics to protect assembly lines.
A Day in the life
You will be working on day-to-day basis on following:
1. On-Site Process Auditing: Conducting deep-dive audits at vendor plants, mapping process bottlenecks, assessing line capacity, tooling wear, and operator compliance.
2. Shop-Floor Handholding: Working directly with vendors on the floor to execute daily corrective actions and re-establish PQCS, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
3. Technical Defect Resolution: Resolving complex electrical, electronic, and imported component defects observed during production trials.
4. Statistical Quality Analysis: Analyzing defect trends using SPC and MSA tools, and enforcing strict 8D root-cause problem-solving frameworks.
5. Sample Lot Audits: Running pre-shipment verification audits on sample lots to reduce incoming lot rejections at assembly plants.
6. Run@Rate Testing: Performing Run@Rate stress tests on vendor lines, upgrading fixture/die management with toolrooms, and eliminating capacity bottlenecks.
7. Cross-Functional Synergy: Partnering with CIT for assembly trials/ECNs, SQA for PPM trends, Supply Chain for SCP capacity planning, and Market Quality for warranty analysis.
Academic Qualification & Experience
1.Education: B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
2.Experience: Minimum 6–9 years of experience in Part Development or Supplier Quality within the automobile industry.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
1.Quality Core Tools: Advanced proficiency in PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, and FMEA.
2.Category Expertise: Specialized understanding of mechanical and electrical proprietary parts (e.g., Brake System, Suspension System, Wheel Assy, ACG, Starter Motor, Switches, Lighting, Speedometer, Wire Harness, EV Parts).
3.Process Auditing & Controls: Expertise in running QAV audits, mapping bottlenecks, and setting up Control Plans/PQCS.
4.Statistical Analysis & Problem Solving: Capability to analyze statistical defect data (SPC/MSA) and enforce strict 8D root-cause frameworks.
5.Capacity & Stress Optimization: Ability to run Run@Rate stress tests and verify vendor CP-CPK machine capabilities.
