Buyer- Sourcing & Development (Forging & Casting)

A purpose driven role for you

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
1.Development & Settlement: Execute the development and commercial settlement of Forging & Casting category parts to ensure timely sample and part availability.
2.Project Management: Manage motorcycle and series projects within defined cost targets, timelines, and quality parameters for smooth vehicle launches.
3.Maker Finalization: Initiate part development with appropriate manufacturing technologies and lead times based on the category sourcing strategy.

A Day in the life

You will be working on day-to-day basis on following:
1.Budget & Proto Costing: Arranging technical details from R&D for budget costs (NREE, Tooling, and line investments) and releasing prototype POs.
2.Development Execution: Tracking part development schedules weekly with R&D and suppliers to resolve technical and customer issues.
3.Commercial Settlement: Preparing cost proposals and negotiating mass production pricing within a 2% variance of the budgeted cost.
4.Profitability Initiatives: Identifying Leap/Lead ideas and driving cost-saving initiatives at the initial design stage.
5.Feasibility & Technical Resolution: Tracking feasibility reports and securing issue resolution between suppliers and internal COCs.
6.BOM & Transition Management: Creating model Material BOMs, comparing them with E-BOMs, and ensuring smooth model handovers from SS to VD.
7.Market Intelligence: Exploring new technologies, evaluating global casting/forging suppliers, and conducting competitor model benchmarking.

Academic Qualification & Experience

1.Education: BE / B.Tech.
2.Experience: 10–15 Years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

1.Category Know-how: Deep technical, process, and supplier base knowledge specific to Forging & Casting components.
2.Part Development: Thorough understanding of the automotive end-to-end part development lifecycle.
3.Costing & Negotiation: Strong commercial skills for concept-stage budget costing and final supplier settlements.
4.Project Management: Proven ability to manage project timelines, create milestone schedules, and maintain project MIS.
5.Market Trend Analysis: Competency in mapping upcoming technical trends, tracking raw material commodity shifts, and evaluating government policy frameworks.

Behavioural Skills

1.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills for driving cross-functional and supplier alignment.
2.Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly present project status, cost gap analysis, and strategic sourcing data to stakeholders.
3.Analytic Skills: Strong capabilities for conducting raw material trend analysis and baseline model cost comparisons.
4.Collaboration: Managing active working relationships across R&D, SQA, Projects, and external Supply Chain Partners.
5.Problem Solving: Handling ambiguity at the concept stage and resolving conflicting customer/supplier constraints under pressure.
